From Publishers Weekly
Full of anecdotes from readers of his books (including Encouragement Changes Everything) and his website (www.JohnMaxwellonLeadership.com), the latest self-help from prolific bestseller Maxwell is so readable, audiences may not realize until the end that it contains little in the way of practical advice. Instead, Maxwell offers vague platitudes like, "being a giver is usually a win-win. It can energize you while it helps others," without providing the meaning or context to make proper advice (what would "a giver" look like in conversation? How can readers become givers?). A great deal of the book is devoted to first-person anecdotes by those who have worked with Maxwell and his books, who make much of Maxwell's skills, but little of the steps they took to improve their own communication abilities. Those looking for concrete help won't find it here; Maxwell doesn't get much more specific than when he writes, "Connecting is the ability to identify with people and relate to them in a way that increases your influence with them."

All Happiness and Joy rises and falls on relationship.
By William Teh
This is one of my most favorite of Dr. John Maxwell books! At the end of the day, relationships is what we have, is what makes life worth or not worth living, and value we are able to add and leave behind.
All happiness and joy comes from good and meaningful relationships. All sadness, anger, and hurt comes from bad or poor relationships. Be it with our peers on earth or creator if we believe in one.
A must read book for anyone, everyone, and YOU if we want to live a better life.

The purpose of communication is connection
By Amazon Customer
If you are reading this review you and I have something in common. We both want to improve our communication skills and even more importantly, learn to better connect with others. I've been on a self-directed quest the past few months to improve my communication and connecting skills. I've read Dale Carnegie's "How to Win Friends" as well as the one he wrote on public speaking. I've watched YouTube videos of Stanford MBA presentations by Carmine Gallo, Steve Jobs product introduction videos (The 2007 iPhone presentation is a classic case study in effective presentation technique), and I've read a lot of Maxwell. "Everyone Communicates, Few Connect" should be included on the reading list of anyone wanting to better understand the why's and how's of communication and connecting. John brings a clear and practical voice to understanding one of the easiest and yet one of the most difficult of all human activities--communicating. He really covers that there's way more to conversing than just words. (Yeah, I know you're thinking there's body language, volume, tone and such, but there's even more than that!) in each chapter the main points are clearly outlined and explained and as per the typical Maxwell style, there are stories and quotes to make the material memorable. At the end of each chapter are Connecting Principles and Key Concepts along with advice on connecting one-on-one, in small groups, and with audiences.
Again, highly highly recommended.

Get This Book!!!
By Author Billie Miller
If you're a speaker, author, business owner, or involved with customer service, then you need to get this book! I Love how John Maxwell teaches in his books. "Everyone Communicates, Few Connect" is rich with knowledge. One of my favorite quotes is,
"Talk is easy. Everybody talks. The question is, how can you make your words count?" ~ John C. Maxwell
One of the things that I've learned from being a minister and an author is that it's all about CONNECTION. John defines connecting as "the ability to identify with people and relate to them in a way that increases your influence with them." You can speak before an audience and everybody hears you...but how many of them CONNECTED. Everyone can read your book, but how many of them actually CONNECTED with what you wrote. You can build an email "list" all you want, but if you do not make a CONNECTION, then you're just junk mail. You're just someone who has a big "list".
John also quoted, "One of the best ways to learn how to connect with an audience is to observe communicators who are good at it. Learn from them and adopt what you can into your own style." Take John's advice and get this book. He's a great communicator to learn from. The information in this book has helped me as a businessman, minister, and an author to go to the next level. If you're serious about connecting with people, then get this book!
